OpenCV 3.0.0 is out and you can't wait to get your hands on it and try it with your newly setup debian/ubuntu desktop :D Lets install it, its really quite simple! I have outlined the installation below in a simple 10-step process. Get the opencv3.0.0 package from the opencv website( here ). Below are the steps on how to set this up and use it. Setup: Go to the below link and download the package which will be available in .zip format. http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/graphics/pstricks/contrib/pst-barcode Unzip the downloaded file and look for the 3 files mentioned below in the extracted folder. pst-barcode.pro pst-barcode.sty pst-barcode.tex Now all that remains is placing these files in the right location in your machine. Just go to the /usr/share/texmf folder and do the following: Make 2 directories with names ' dvips ' and ' tex/generic '. Installing a new OS in a machine and not sure what its CPU architecture is? No worries, all it takes is a single line command to find it out. This post assumes the machine you wish to install already has a linux os and can be issued commands via terminal. Log into the machine you wish to install your os in and fire up a terminal. Once the terminal is up issue the following command: To find out if the kernel is 32-bit or 64 bit run this: uname -m to find out the if the cpu supports 32bit or 64 bit, run this. sudo lshw -class processor | grep width The output of these commands will tell you what you are looking for. 

So your pendrive refuses to get formatted via the GUI tools. Just do this and you'll have what you need! The post may seem a little long but its really simple to do this. Go to the terminal and see if your device is showing up there by running the following command: lsblk This comand will give a table kind of output and you can find out your device by its size(eg. 8G = 8Gb). Note the /dev/_ path for your device. So you recently installed Debian for example, and are irritated due to the fact that the BackSpace Key doesn't take you to the previous directory! Its simple to rectify this, just use the below step and you will have the BackSpace serve you as its supposed to :D Edit the ~/.config/nautilus/accels file by running either of the following comman ds: gedit  ~/.config/nautilus/accels  or nano  ~/.config/nautilus/accels  or  vim  ~/.config/nautilus/accels and enter the following  line in this file at the end: (gtk_accel_path "<Actions>/ShellActions/Back" "BackSpace"). PS: Do not include a semicolon at the  beginning of this line.
